On Monday, October 12, 2015, Susquehanna Valley Conservatives will host oncologist Dr. Victor Vogel, who will discuss end of life issues in his presentation entitled “Hope, Faith and Reason at the End of Life: How we can avoid a financial crisis in American health care“. The meeting will be held at 7:00 PM in the Baylor Conference room at the Best Western Country Cupboard Inn, just north of Lewisburg along Route 15. The conference room is located on the west side of the building.

This is a topic that cuts across all sides of the political spectrum. Whether you are conservative, liberal, or independent Dr. Vogels’ presentation will be of interest to you. Feel free to pass this announcement along to your friends, relatives, and neighbors.

Dr. Vogel currently serves a Director of Breast Oncology and Research for Geisinger Health System. He served as national vice president for research for the American Cancer Society from 2009-2010, and was a professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is also the author of more than 250 articles, book chapters and abstracts.

For more than 30 years, Dr. Vogel has dedicated his life and career to the research and treatment of breast cancer. He has personally worked with hundreds of patients and their families who must make difficult decisions regarding treatment and end-of-life care. Dr. Vogel’s book, “Doctor, What if it Were Your Mother?: Hope, Faith and Reason at the End of Life” brings his experiences, expertise and insights to a wider audience, encouraging more open conversations between doctors and patients and expounding on his own thoughts about death and dying.

Dr. Vogel’s presentation will also touch on the current healthcare system in the U.S. and the potential impending financial crisis. He hopes his book will help readers make informed decisions regarding disease management, avoid costly and useless therapies, and find comfort when coping with the reality of losing loved ones.

Copies of Dr. Vogel’s book will be on sale at the meeting.

In addition to Dr. Vogels’ presentation, we expect State Senator John Gordner to attend and bring us a legislative update from Harrisburg. Have your questions ready for Senator Gordner.
