May’s Upcoming Meeting

Charles F. Mitchell, Executive Vice President, Commonwealth Foundation for Public Policy Alternatives, will be the speaker for Susquehanna Valley Conservatives meeting on Monday, May 12. The meeting will begin at 7:00PM in the Baylor Conference Room at the Best Western Country Cupboard Inn, Lewisburg.

Mr. Mitchell’s presentation is titled, “Public Policy Issues That Face Pennsylvania Conservatives and How We Need to Enact Them.” He will specifically address the following:

  • Taxes and Spending
  • Jobs and Economy
  • Energy and Environment
  • Education
  • Unions and Labor Policy
  • Accountable Government
  • Privatization

Charles Mitchell earned a B.A. at Bucknell University, where he appeared on the cover of the New York Times Magazine. He is a graduate of the Koch Associate Program, the Mackinac Center’s Leadership Conference, and the Claremont Institute’s Publius Fellowship Program. His writings have appeared in the Harrisburg Patriot-News, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Allentown Morning Call and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, among others, and he has been interviewed on MSNBC, Fox News Channel, C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, National Public Radio, and The News Hour with Jim Lehrer.

Charles grew up in Delaware County and is a graduate of Pennsylvania public schools. He has been a financial supporter of the Commonwealth Foundation for many years and returned to the Keystone State in 2010 to join its staff. He has spent his career in the freedom movement, with stints at the Heritage Foundation and American Council of Trustees and Alumni in Washington, D.C., and the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education in Philadelphia.

Charles and his family reside in the Harrisburg area, where it is their privilege to serve their church, New Covenant Fellowship, in various capacities.
